The Second Opinion

An independent
perspective

  • Assumptions tested
  • Alternatives examined
  • Priorities clarified

One defined question

A focused review of selected material

60–90 minutes

An expert conversation about your options

Agreed in advance

Scope, timing, confidentiality and fee

Different roles. A shared need for perspective.

Companies

Will customers understand the proposed action—and what might prevent them from participating? Which aspects of a remedy or message could increase customer effort or weaken trust?

Law firms and their clients

Complement your legal assessment with an empirical and behavioral perspective on a client matter. The consultation can take place with your legal team or jointly with your client.

Insurers

Examine a company’s recall capabilities and proposed response, including assumptions about participation and execution risk. This complements technical, legal and actuarial assessment; it does not determine coverage, insurability or premiums.

A focused conversation, not an open-ended project.

  1. Frame the question

Start with a brief, non-confidential outline. We agree whether the question fits, the scope, timing and the fee.

  2. Review the essentials

After agreeing confidentiality arrangements and a suitable sharing method, selected documents provide the basis for preparation.

  3. Examine the options

A 60–90-minute discussion challenges assumptions, weighs alternatives and helps clarify priorities.

A short written follow-up can be agreed separately. Extensive reports, implementation and continuing project support are not included. This service complements, but does not replace, legal, regulatory or technical advice. It is not a safety certification.

The thinking behind the advice.

The discussion draws on research into recall effectiveness, consumer response, remedy design and reputation. Explore the book and research, or see how research can inform management questions in Recall Insights.

Public case commentary does not imply that a named company is a consulting client or endorses this service.

Start with the question

Is a Second Opinion right for your situation?

Send a brief, non-confidential outline of the decision, whether you are enquiring for your organisation or a client, and your timeframe.

Please do not send sensitive documents with the initial enquiry. Scope, confidentiality arrangements and a suitable sharing method are agreed first.
